Your data.
Bolt’s Android app has no advertising or analytics SDKs and does not request Android’s internet permission. Its app-owned settings, operation records, logs and recovery snapshots are stored locally.
Local files and permissions
Bolt uses root for privileged kernel, backup and restore operations. Android’s document picker grants access to the ZIPs and backup or log destinations you choose. Foreground-service and wake-lock permissions keep operations running; notification permission lets Bolt show operation notifications.
Device identity and build information are recorded with recovery manifests to help validate restores. Device-bound snapshots, journals and logs are excluded from Android cloud backup and device transfer. They are lost if you clear app data or uninstall Bolt. Files you export remain wherever you save them.
Kernel packages
A kernel ZIP contains third-party scripts that run with root access. Those scripts can independently access files, modify your device or perform network operations. Bolt’s own lack of an internet permission does not restrict a root installer. Use packages from developers you trust.
This website
This static website has no analytics, advertising scripts or cookies. If you change its color theme, it saves that choice in your browser’s local storage under bolt-web-theme. Fonts and screenshots are hosted with the site.
When the download section approaches view, your browser requests the latest release information from GitHub’s public API. GitHub receives normal request information such as your IP address. Download links and source links also take you to GitHub. See GitHub’s privacy statement.
The hosting provider serves the page and may keep standard operational request logs. Hosting and domain configuration are managed by the project owner.
Sharing logs and getting help
Exported logs can include device information and text emitted by a kernel installer. Review them before sharing them in a public issue. For questions, contact the maintainer through the Bolt repository.
